Thomas J. Moriarty, age 94, of Alexandria, Minnesota passed away on November 1, 2012 at the Bethany Home in Alexandria, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be held from 11:30 AM until the time of service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will take place at St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery in Brandon, MN. Online condolences may be placed at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association of Echo and Wabasso are handling the arrangements for the family. Thomas Joseph Moriarty was born on May 7, 1918 to Charles and Charlotte (Lawler) in Morris, Minnesota, Darnen Township, Stevens County. He attended Country School District #47 in Morris and was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at the Assumption Catholic Church. Thomas grew up in Morris, Sedan and Millerville and helped his father on the farm before enlisting into the United States Army. He was honorably discharged from service in 1946. He then returned to Minnesota and made his home in Minneapolis, MN. On May 4, 1963 Thomas was united in marriage to Irma Chouinard at Our Lady of the Seven Dolars in Millerville, MN. They made their home together in the metro area where Thomas worked at the Ford Motor Company for a few years and then as a machinist for FMC in Fridley, MN. After retirement, they moved to Brandon, MN before moving one last time to the Alexandria, MN area. Thomas was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also active with the American Legion in Alexandria. Thomas enjoyed feeding the birds, making windmills and bird houses, loved to be outside and take walks and spending time with his family and friends. On November 1, 2012, Thomas passed away at the Bethany Home in Alexandria, Minnesota at the age of 94. Thomas is survived by his wife, Irma Moriarty of Alexandria, MN; one son, Michael (Debbie) Moriarty of New Brighton, MN; one grandson, Sean Moriarty; two sisters, Dorothy Zeibarth and Joyce Collins and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed. His parents, two brothers, James and Bernard, and three sisters, Mary, Agatha and Margaret preceded him in death. Blessed be his memory.
