Mathilda “Tillie” Marie Guetter, age 89, of Wabasso, MN passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Wabasso. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 PM on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the church with a prayer service at 6 PM. Visitation also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Mathilda Marie Guetter was born on April 15, 1923 to John and Catherine (Manderscheid) Bernardy in Granite Rock Township, Lucan, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan. She attended Country School. On October 1, 1946, Mathilda married Clarence Rohlik at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Seaforth, MN. Clarence passed away in January of 1949. Mathilda was united in marriage to Alphonse Guetter On June 27, 1951 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Seaforth, MN. Mathilda “Tillie” was a homemaker and also helped Alphonse with the daily farm chores. She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church where she was active with the CCW, St. Monica’s Society (CUF), and active with the mission quilting group. They lived on the family farm near Wabasso until 1991 when they moved into town. Tillie enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards, sewing, and making quilts. She made many quilts as gifts for family and friends. She enjoyed taking care of babies especially her grand babies. The best cracked wheat bread came from Tillie’s kitchen. On Thursday, February 21, 2013, Tillie passed away at the Golden Living Center at the age of 89. Tillie is survived by her husband, Alphonse, children; Charles (Pat) Guetter of Rockville, Roger (Sharon) Guetter of Lucan, Marie (Joseph) Schueller of Lucan, Patty Butler of Willmar, Tim (Patty) Guetter of Marshall, Clete (Tami) Guetter of Wabasso, and Nancy Guetter of St. Cloud, 19 grandchildren and several great- grandchildren, siblings; Genevieve Rohlik, Adolph (LaVonne) Bernardy, and Marvin (Maureen) Bernardy, brother – in – law Alois Guetter, sisters – in – law; Theresa Fischer, and Kate Tingelhoff, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Lawrence, Leonard, Norbert, and Isadore, first husband Clarence Rohlik, son Paul Guetter, two grandchildren, and son-in-law Dennis Butler.
