Constance “Connie” Louise (Wheeler) Pendleton, age 65, of the Lower Sioux Indian Community, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at her home. Services will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Lower Sioux Indian Community Hall. Visitation will start at 11:00 AM on Friday and will continue until the time of service on Friday at the Community Hall. Online condolences may be placed at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association of Echo and Wabasso are handling the arrangements for the family. Constance Louise (Wheeler) Pendleton was born on November 11, 1947 to Robert and Lorraine (Lilljenberg) Wheeler in Faribault, Minnesota, Rice County. She loved spending her summers as a child at the Lutheran Ministries on Lake Shetek and spending time with her grandparents. She attended and graduated from North High School in 1965. On February 10, 1973, Connie was united in marriage to Morris Pendleton in Codington County, South Dakota. They made their home in Minneapolis where she worked at Control Data for many years and in 1981, Morris and Connie moved to the Lower Sioux Indian Community in Morton, MN. At age 35, Connie went back to school at Willmar Area Technical Institute, graduating in 1984 with a degree in Practical Nursing. She passed her state board exams on May 24, 1984 and worked as an LPN for 26 years until her retirement in 2010. She was a member of St. Cornelius Church – Bishop Whipple Mission in the Lower Sioux Indian Community and was once active with the Lower Sioux’s Education Department. Connie loved bowling in her younger years, playing cards, reading, shopping, relaxing at her lake home, planning for holidays and birthdays, going to movies, attending shows at Jackpot, eating out, taking vacations, and watching her grandsons play basketball. She put everyone ahead of herself. She devoted all of her time to her children and grandchildren. She loved life. She will be greatly missed by many. Connie is survived by her husband, Morris Pendleton Sr.; children, Kimberly (Michael) Hewitt, Earl (Dawn) Pendleton all of the Lower Sioux Indian Community, Morton, MN and Morris Pendleton Jr. of Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren, Richard, Michael, Ryan, Sam, Derek, Lewis, Max, Alexus, Christian, and MyKaylee; Brother, Douglas (Rachel) Wheeler; sister-in-law, Loretta Oliver; cousins, Judy (Rueben) Wee, nieces Sherril (Charlie) Brown, Constance Pendleton, and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her parents and brother Robert (Bobbi) Wheeler preceded her in death. Blessed be the memory of Connie Pendleton.
