Floyd William Zimmerli

Floyd W. Zimmerli was born on November 30, 1926 to William and Ella (Georgius) Zimmerli on the family farm in Wabasso, Minnesota, Vail Township. He grew up on the family farm and was baptized in the Christian Faith. He attended and graduated from the Wabasso Public Schools in 1944. After High School, Floyd worked in the St. Paul, Minnesota area for a few years before returning to Wabasso and returning to the family farm. On September 9, 1950, Floyd was united in marriage to Doris Fridley at Sharon Lutheran Church in Lamberton, Minnesota. They made their home on the family farm where they built a new house and in 1966, Floyd purchased the farm from his parents. Floyd farmed until his retirement in 1993, when they moved into Wabasso. Floyd was a member of First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling with friends, camping in Glenwood, playing cards, square dancing, visiting friends for coffee every morning at the C-Store and Wabasso Elevator, and spending time with family and friends. On Sunday, July 14, 2013, Floyd passed away at the Springfield Medical Center in Springfield, Minnesota at the age of 86 years old. Grateful for having shared his life are his four children, Nancy Guggisberg of Gibbon, Patti (Larry) Maas of Walnut Grove, Bill Zimmerli of Renville, and Michael (Diana) Zimmerli of Wabasso; two siblings, Allan Zimmerli and Janice Johnson; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. His wife, Doris, his parents, and one sister, June, preceded him in death. Blessed be his memory.
