Steven Paul Macht, age 61, of Farmington, Minnesota passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at his home in rural Farmington, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 26, 2013 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan, MN with visitation being held one hour prior to the service at the church. Steven Paul Macht was born on April 10, 1952, in Redwood County, to Leonard and Blanche (Brakke) Macht. He attended grade school at Our Lady of Victory School in Lucan and graduated from Milroy High School in 1971. After high school, Steve served in the U.S. Army completing basic training at Ft. Knox Kentucky. From there, he was stationed in Germany where he then volunteered for service in Vietnam. After being honorably discharged, Steve began his college education first attending Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, MN and later transferring to Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico where he received his Master’s Degree in Business Management, graduating with honors (Magna Cum Laude). On December 17th, 1977 Steve was united in marriage to Helen Welborn, to this union two children (Christopher and Kelly) were born. During his early professional working career, Steve worked for Hertz, Thrifty and Budget rental car companies as a city manager. Steve loved reading, watching documentaries, antiquing (where he was always in search of that rare find), and had a passion for hunting, fishing, camping, history and Catholicism. He enjoyed spending time with his family, Minnesota summers and supporting the local establishments by playing pulltabs! Steven passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at his home in Farmington, Minnesota at the age of 61 years old. Survivors include his children, Christopher (and Nicole) Macht of Ontario, Oregon, Kelly (and Geoff) Wiebe of Eugene, OR; Two grandchildren, Chloe and Victoria; siblings, Alan (and Julie) Macht of Marshall, Lisa (and Tom) Buraczewski of Mequon, WI.,sister-in-law, Audrey Macht of Burnsville, MN, and many nieces, nephews and great nephews. He is also survived by his father’s second wife, Darlene Macht of Tracy, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Blanche Macht, and eldest brother, Terry Macht.
