Lola Mae Dambroten, age 75 of Granite Falls, MN passed away Thursday Evening September 5, 2013 after a 2 ½ year courageous battle with liver cancer. She died peacefully at her home surrounded by family. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Hawk Creek Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 11:30 until time of service at 1:00 on Wednesday at the church. Online condolences may be placed at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Lola Mae (Reiten) Dambroten was born on May 21st, 1938 to Melvin and Annamae (Roudebush) Reiten of Granite Falls, MN. Lola was baptized and confirmed at the Congregational Church in Granite Falls. She graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1956. On August 19th, 1956 she married Donald Orville Dambroten. To this union, four children were born. Don & Lola lived on the homesteaded century farm their entire married life. Lola spent her life as a farm wife homemaker and a Home Health Aid. She was the matriarch that took care of the past generation of family members and of her little sisters when their mother died so young. Her greatest joy was spending time with and helping family and friends. She was everyone’s personal support no matter what the circumstance. Lola was active in the Hawk Creek Lutheran Church serving in a lot if different capacities as the WELCA, Church Council, homemakers, Quilting, 4-H, etc. Her other interests were flowers, gardening, cooking, watching birds at the feeder and volunteering at the Sacred Heart Area Historical Society. Lola is survived by her husband Donald, her children Dean Dambroten (Doris Ommodt) of Sacred Heart, MN, Gregg Dambroten of Farmington, MN, Jim (Ginny) Dambroten of Sacred Heart, MN Ann (Mike) Callies of Shakopee, MN. Her grandchildren Ryan (Sarah), Kayla (Chris), Joe (Brooke) Dambroten; Levi, Cole (McKenzie), Dylan Dambroten; Justine, Taylor Dambroten; Emma, Ethan, Lydia Callies. Great grandchildren Vera, Wyatt, Adilee, Weston, Kolten, & Rowdy. Also survived by siblings Odell Reiten, Wayne (Lois) Reiten, Harry (Marti) Reiten, Ellen Bengtson, Joyce (Mark) Bigaouette. Lola was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Mary Reiten. Memorials preferred to Granite Falls Rice Hospice; Hawk Creek Lutheran Church Kitchen Remodeling/Elevator Fund.
