Duane W. Penske, age 51 of Vesta, MN passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, September 22, 2013. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta, Minnesota. Visitation with viewing will be held from 4 – 7 pm on Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo, MN, with a prayer service being held at 6:30 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday with no viewing. Burial will be in the Vesta Cemetery. Duane Willis Penske was born on November 1, 1962 to Allen and Doris (Henriksen) Penske in Granite Falls, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm near Vesta, and was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. He attended and graduated from the Echo and Wood Lake Schools in 1981. After graduating from high school, he continued his education at Southwest State University in Marshall, MN, receiving a bachelor degree in both Arts and Education. After College, Duane remained on the family farm and taught various art classes for a number of different art foundations. Duane is also known for his Charactures that he made for family and friends. Duane was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta and was also involved with an Art Foundation for Grants. Duane enjoyed the arts, cooking, fixing computers, fantasy football, visiting his friends, and being in the company of his cats. Grateful for having shared in his life are is siblings, Janice and husband Glenn Kuck of Winsted, and Gary and wife Margaret Penske of Vesta; sister-in-law, Patrice Penske of Lake George; nieces and nephews, Colin (Amber) Dahl, Jordan (fiancé Alyssa) Kuck, Miranda (Adam) Phillipi, and Brittany Kuck; many cousins and a host of friends. His parents, brother, Arlen Penske, and nephew, Jeffrey Penske, preceded him in death. Blessed be his memory.
