He attended school in Wabasso and was baptized and confirmed at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. On August 30, 1944 Raymond was inducted into the United States Army and on July 3, 1946, Ray received his honorable discharge. On May 6, 1947, Raymond was united in marriage to Veronica Plaetz at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan, Minnesota. They made their home in the Wabasso area where Raymond and Veronica farmed. Then in 1972, they moved on to the family farm where they remained until 1991 when they retired and moved to their home in Wabasso. In September of 2013, Raymond became a resident of the Sunwood-Good Samaritan Society in Redwood Falls. Raymond was a lifelong member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Wabasso American Legion. Ray enjoyed dairy farming, Ol’ time music, cooking, quilting with Veronica, and visiting with friends and family. On Thursday, November 28, 2013 Raymond passed away at the Sunwood-Good Samaritan Society in Redwood Falls, MN at the age of 89 years old. Grateful for having shared in Raymond’s life are his children, Theresa (Edward) Wertish of Redwood Falls, Richard (Shirley) Goblirsch of St. Louis Park, Donald (Marcis) Goblirsch of Wabasso, Virginia Salfer of Wabasso, Jerome (Patty) Goblirsch of Fairmont, James (Karen) Goblirsch of Wabasso, Kathryn (Bill) Bloedow of Redwood Falls, Anthony Goblirsch of Wabasso, Edward (Beth) Goblirsch of Wabasso, and Mark (Robin) Goblirsch of Wabasso; brothers, Alphonse Goblirsch of Wabasso, Francis (Rita) Goblirsch of Wabasso, Arnold (Pat) Goblirsch of Wabasso, and Clarence (Phyllis) Goblirsch of Eagan; sisters, Doris (Clarence) Rothmeier of Wabasso, Mary (Melvin) Liebl of Redwood Falls, and Elizabeth (James) Groebner of Princeton; 21 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Donna Goblirsch of Tyler, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Veronica in February of 2011, sons Stanley and Joseph in infancy, son-in-law Dennis Salfer, brother Bernard Goblirsch, sisters Helen Plaetz and Arlene Rothmeier and brothers-in-law Henry Plaetz and Norbert Rothmeier.
