Mabel Haggberg, age 99, of Redwood Falls, Minnesota passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the Redwood Area Hospital in Redwood Falls. Funeral Services are rescheduled due to the weather and will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Echo Cemetery. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service with burial to follow. Mabel (Hudec) Haggberg was born on January 2, 1915 to Edward and Mary (Konerza) Hudec in Silver Lake, Minnesota, McCloud County. She was baptized and confirmed at the Faith Presbyterian Church in Silver Lake. She attended the Silver Lake Public Schools graduating in 1932. She then attended St. Cloud Teacher’s College in St. Cloud, MN graduating in 1940. In 1952, Mabel was united in marriage to Clarence Haggberg. After Clarence passed away in 1979, Mabel was united in marriage to Roy Haggberg in Oakland, Georgia in 1992. Over the years, Mabel lived in Minneapolis, Georgia, North Carolina, Arizona, and eventually moved back to Minnesota and made her home in Redwood Falls. Mabel was a teacher who taught at several different schools over the years and eventually retired from teaching in 1975. Mabel was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls where she was active in the church choir and as a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Minnesota State Teacher’s Association. Mabel enjoyed crafts, traveling, and singing at weddings. On Thursday, January 9, 2014, Mabel passed away at the Redwood Area Hospital in Redwood Falls, MN shortly after celebrating her 99th birthday. She is survived by several step-children; and her niece, Lois (Alan) Ahrenholz of Clara City. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Clarence and Roy, sister, Elsie Dew, and nephew, James Hudec. Blessed be her memory.
