Darles P. Fischer, age 78 of Vesta, MN passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the Seasons Hospice House in Redwood Falls. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 pm on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 also at the church with a prayer service at 7PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in the Vesta Cemetery. Online condolences may be placed at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Darles Paul Albert Fischer was born on April 26, 1935 to Andrew and Ella (Zimmer) Fischer on a farm near Vesta. He was baptized on May 19, 1935 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta by Pastor Karl Brickmann. He was confirmed at St. John’s on May 29, 1949 by HH. Kesting. He graduated from Echo High School in 1953. After graduation, he worked for farmers and then the Vesta Feed Service until he went into the United States army from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1959. After his service in the Army, he returned to the area and worked at the Vesta Feed Service once again and in 1962, Darles started farming. On July 16, 1960, Darles was united in marriage to Audrey Oyen of Appleton, MN and to this union was blessed with 5 children, Paul, James, Jerry, Mark, and Julie. Audrey passed away in February of 1993. He was a member of the Vesta Fire Department while working in town. He also served as an elder in church. Darles loved fishing, playing cards, dancing, and visiting with friends. He also loved spending time with his family at the Lake and at the farm. On Sunday, February 16, 2014, Darles passed away at the Seasons Hospice House in Redwood Falls at the age of 78 years old. He is survived by his 5 children, Paul (Sandy) Fischer of Montevideo, Jim (Chris) Fischer of Marshall, Jerry (Lisa) Fischer of Hanley Falls, Mark (Kris) Fischer of Redwood Falls, and Julie (Jason) Phillippe of Marshall; 10 grandchildren, Matt, Nicole, Miranda, Zach, Justin, Andy, Brooke, Thomas, Logan, and Carter; special friend, Joyce McKay; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Audrey, and 5 sisters, Luella Kasten, Agnes Jensen, Bernice Kolander, Evelyn Fischer, and Darlene Fischer. Blessed be his memory.
