Joan L. Pederson - Belview

Joan L. Pederson, age 82, of Belview, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the Seasons Hospice Home in Redwood Falls. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Belview. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 pm on Tuesday at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Belview Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the church. Online condolences may be placed at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com. Joan Lou Pederson was born on March 12, 1932 at the Children’s Home Society in St. Paul and lived there until the age of 3 when she was adopted by Thomas and Eunice (Ball) Matson. She then moved with her family to the Belview area where she was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. She attended the Belview country and public schools and was very proud to have received her GED. She grew up on the family farm outside of Belview where she lived her whole life. On August 17, 1949, Joan was united in marriage to Peter Pederson and they made their home on a farm by Echo for a short period of time before returning to her parent’s farm near Belview. She remained on the farm until a few years ago when she moved into the Parkwood Apartments in Belview, then to the Parkview Home, and finally to the Seasons Hospice Home in Redwood Falls. Over the years, Joan sold Avon, helped teach piano lessons, and played in a band called the “Belview Belles”. She was a member of the Ladies Legion Auxillary and very active with her church and the Ladies Aid. Joan enjoyed ceramics, patching jeans, knitting, crocheting, playing cards, gardening, camping, but most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. On Sunday, May 11, 2014, Joan passed away at the Seasons Hospice Home in Redwood Falls, Minnesota at the age of 82 years old. She is survived by her six children, James Pederson of Willmar, Gordon Pederson of Belview, Gail (Deb Schroeder) Pederson of Echo, Lu-Ann (Dennis) Smith of Granite Falls, Kristine (Kevin) Meier of Echo, and Bonita (Jeff) Weiland of Redwood Falls; thirteen grandchildren, Christopher, Briana, Daniel, Thomas, Tonya, Kristina, Timothy, Casey, Kiley Jo, Elijah, Lucas, Bethany, and Katherine; thirteen great- grandchildren, Corin, Mitchell, Kelsey, Angel, Logan, James, Caden, Tegan, Tristan, Addison, Remington, Peyton, Jaxon, and Grace; two siblings, Ken Anderson of Tucson, AZ and Beatrice (Jerry) Jones of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her parents, husband, Peter, infant grandson, Cody, two brothers, and one sister preceded her in death. Blessed be her memory.
