Robert Charles Soupir, age 64 of Milroy, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Parkview Home in Belview. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Milroy. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Thursday at the church with a prayer service at 8:00 pm and will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Milroy. Online condolences may be placed at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Robert Charles Soupir was born on March 10, 1950 in Springfield, Minnesota to Tony and Sadie (Zollner) Soupir. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith, attended St. Anne’s Catholic School in Wabasso, and graduated from Milroy Public School in 1968. He then went on to Technical College in Canby where he received a degree for Insurance Sales from May of 1968 until July of 1969. On October 4, 1969, Robert was united in marriage to Judy Gehrking and two children were born to this union. They made their home on a farm north of Milroy. He then joined the United States National Guard and completed basic training in 1970. He completed his six year enlistment in 1975. He worked most of his life after the Guards as a farmer and construction worker. Bob enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his friends and family. He was famous for his tomato soup he made for the deer hunting season. He also enjoyed reading up on tractors, IH and John Deere, loved his pets, and spoiling his 3 grandchildren. Robert passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Parkwood Home in Belview after a long, hard fight against cancer at the age of 64 years old. He is survived by his two children, Denise (Terry Vanderby) Soupir of Glenwood, and Craig (Carol) Soupir of Vesta; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Soupir of Glenwood, and Marie and Wyatt Soupir of Vesta; two sisters, Joan Wagner of Wabasso and Delores (Hal) Kravig of Bartlett, TN. Bob is also survived by his nieces and nephews, and many cousins and friends. His parents, one brother, Larry, one brother-in-law, Jerry Wagner, and one niece, Ellen Soupir preceded him in death. Blessed be his memory.
