Noel “Butch” P. Hanson, age 59 of Echo, MN passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, August 13, 2014. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Rock Valle Lutheran Church of rural Echo. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 pm on Saturday at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo with a prayer service at 7:00 pm with visitation continuing one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. Noel “Butch” Philip Hanson was born on October 12, 1954 to Philip and LaVien (Lecy) Hanson in Granite Falls, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Rock Valle Lutheran Church and graduated from Echo High School in 1973. He was a lifelong resident of the Echo community. Noel worked for the City of Echo, was a member of the Echo Fire Department and Rock Valle Lutheran Church. Noel enjoyed going to the races, Jackson Speedway was his favorite where he often volunteered to help push the sprint cars with his 4-wheeler. He liked to listen to his emergency scanner, watching all kinds of sports, especially the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, enjoyed having coffee with the 10 o’clock lunch bunch, and often volunteered his time collecting meal tickets at the Prairie Five meal site. On Wednesday, August 13, 2014, Noel passed away unexpectedly at his home at the age of 59 years old. He is survived by his two sons, Waylon Trotter of Young America, and Kelly Trotter of Montevideo; three siblings, Phyllis (Don) Miller of Wood Lake, Katie Kraber of Waseca, and LeAnn (Dwight) Kurtz of Echo; two grandchildren, Aryssa Trotter and Jordan Trotter; nieces and nephews, Connie (Doug) House, Kent Miller (and friend Alexia), Jeremy Splinter, Stacey (Matt) Ulferts, Ashley (Beau) Boerner, Stefanie (Joel) Sage, Jessica (Travis) Leenerts, and Mike (Melanie) Kurtz; 21 great nieces and nephews, 5 great-great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. His parents, Philip and LaVien, and brother-in-law, Steve Hall preceded him in death. Blessed be his memory.
