Donald G. Goblish - Vesta

Donald G. Goblish, age 79 of Vesta, MN passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at the Avera – Marshall Medical Center in Marshall. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, September 26, 2014 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 pm on Thursday at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo with a prayer service at 7:00 pm and a rosary service to follow. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. The luncheon will immediately follow the Mass with burial to follow in the Holy Name Catholic Cemetery in Vesta. Donald George Goblish was born on March 4, 1935 to George and Lucy (Houdek) Goblish in Redwood County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith. He attended Vesta country school and St. Anne’s Catholic School in Wabasso. He furthered his education at the Granite Falls Area Vocational Technical Institute where he studied Machine Technology. On August 20, 1960, Donald was united in marriage to Judith Turbes at the St. Anne’s Catholic Church In Wabasso. They made their home in Vesta where Don farmed his whole life until becoming disabled in 1986. In addition to farming, Don had several other jobs as an Archer Oil Dealer, and at the Redwood County Telephone Company, Sprinkling Systems Inc., and Dekalb Seed Company. Don was a member of the FFA Advisory Council for the Wabasso High School and Vesta Township Treasurer. Don enjoyed fishing, playing cards, hunting, traveling, collecting rocks and geodes and being a member of the New Ulm Gem and Mineral Club, and used to recite the rosary on the radio. Don also enjoyed spending time with his family and loved all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On Sunday, September 21, 2014, Donald passed away at the Avera – Marshall Medical Center in Marshall, Minnesota at the age of 79 years old surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Judy Goblish of Vesta; children, Stephen (Carol) Goblish of Milroy, Donald Goblish Jr. of Minnetrista, William (Terri) Goblish of Vesta, Pamela Goblish of St. Bonifacius, Laura (Brian) Pehrson of Wood Lake, and Diane Anderson of Vesta; siblings, Henry (Lorraine) Goblish of Marshall, Joseph Goblish of Vesta, Mary (Vic) Sinave of Marshall, and George (Judith) Goblish of Hudson, WI; 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His parents, two infant children, grand daughter Mariah Anderson, nephew John Goblish, three sisters-in-law Rosie Goblish, Leona Goblish, and Rita Turbes, and one brother-in-law Gerald Mann preceded him in death.
