Irene Gabbert age 99 of Longville, MN formerly of Wood Lake, MN passed away on Thursday September 25, 2014 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday September 29, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake, MN. Visitation will be on Sunday September 28, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at St. John’s Church in Wood Lake. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Burial will be at St. John’s Church Cemetery. Online condolences may be placed at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com. The Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association is caring for the family. Irene Frances Gabbert was born on June 25, 1915 to Anton and Catherine (Roth) Bommersbach in Hankinson, North Dakota. She was baptized on June 27, 1915 and confirmed on June 24, 1928 at St. Philips Church in Hankinson, North Dakota and attended country school. On November 15, 1939, Irene was united in marriage to Albert Herman Daniel Gabbert in Hankinson, North Dakota. In March of 1940, the family moved to the Wood Lake area. Irene worked as a cook at the Wood Lake Café in Wood Lake for 28 years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. In 2000, Irene moved to Longville, Minnesota and she also attended the Longville Community Church in Longville. Irene enjoyed embroidery, puzzle books, game shows on television, loved going out to eat, going for rides with her daughter, and spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Every time she saw her great grandchildren, she would give them each a dollar when they arrived and when they left. On Thursday, September 25, 2014, Irene passed away at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, Minnesota at the age of 99 years and 3 months. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Gabbert of Hackensack, MN; daughter-in-law Laurie Gabbert of Wood Lake, MN; three grandchildren, Mike (Carey) Gabbert of Cincinatti, OH, Matt (Jill) Gabbert of Hartford, SD, and Mitch Gabbert of Wood Lake, MN; six great grandchildren, Cameron and Avery Gabbert of Cincinatti, OH, Nicholas, Seth, and Kaia Gabbert of Hartford, SD, and Ryelan Gabbert of Wood Lake, MN; two sisters, Cathy Bommersbach of Fargo, ND, and Delores Hippe of Fargo, ND; two brothers, Jerry (Donna) Bommersbach of Lompoc, CA, and Ron (Carol) Bommersbach of Devils Lake, ND; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her parents, husband Albert, son Ron Gabbert, four brothers, Ed, Anton, Dave, and Don Bommersbach, and four sisters, Marian Bommersbach, Cecilia Bommersbach, Lillian Russ, and Christine Reimer preceded her in death. Blessed be her memory.
