Erma Iverson age 82 of Tucson, AZ formerly of Echo, MN passed away on Sunday October 26, 2014 at Villas at Houghton in Tucson, AZ. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday October 31, 2014 at Rock Valle Lutheran Church rural Echo, MN. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Erma Mae Iverson was born at the rural farmhouse of her parents Steinar and Marion (Hagen) Odden in Friendship Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on July 26, 1932. She was the 4th of 5 children. She graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1950. As a young woman she worked as an accountant at the elevator in Hazel Run, Minnesota and at the Firestone store in Marshall, Minnesota. Erma married Harry K. Iverson on Feb 6, 1953 at the Hazel Run Lutheran Church in Hazel Run, Minnesota. Erma was a mother and homemaker her whole life. She helped her husband, Harry, farm near Echo, Minnesota, for 48 years. She lived for the last few years of her life with her daughter Diane and her son-in-law George in Vail, Arizona. Erma was a member of Rock Valle Lutheran Church. She served on the Church Board and was Church treasurer. She was an active member of the Ladies' Aid at the Rock Valle Lutheran Church and held several positions, including secretary and treasurer. Erma's hobbies were sewing, quilting, rosemaling, scrap booking, dancing and keeping in touch via letter writing. She made quilts for each of her grandchildren, neices and nephews. She also made quilts as wedding gifts for her family and friends. In addition, Erma made quilts for the Rock Valle Ladies Aid mission sale. In all Erma made more that 125 quilts in her lifetime. Erma was also very interested in her family's and extended family's history. She made many scrap books documenting family history. Erma made two trips to Norway and maintained contact with her cousins there thoughout her life. In Norway, Erma visited her Aunt Aaste Odden, cousins and their families. Her husband, Harry, was a musician who played saxophone and clarinet in his own and other dance bands. Erma loved going to the dances he played at and dancing the night away. Erma is survived by her daughter: Diane (George) Hines of Vail, Arizona, grandchildren; Corrine (David) Hines-Zarach of Austin, Texas, Bonnie (John) Hines-Doherty of Chicago, Illinois, and Jessica (Adam) Goschey of Clarkfield, Minnesota; greatgrandchildren, Chase, Seth, Hannah and Bella of Clarkfield, Minnesota; her sister Alice Vick of Echo, Minnesota; her sister-in-law Anna Iverson of Granite Falls, Minnesota; and 11 nephews, 8 nieces and many cousins. Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; her son, Kenneth; her parents, Steinar and Marion; three brothers, Harold, Orville and Charles; one sister, Anna Carol; her brothers-in-law, Ernest Iverson, Melford Iverson and Darwin Vick; and her sisters-in-law, Sandra Odden and Delores Odden.
