David Loren Olson - Wabasso/Luverne

David L. Olson, age 71, of Wabasso, formerly of Luverne, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Seasons Hospice House in Redwood Falls. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 14, 2014 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Wabasso. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 pm on Thursday at the church with a prayer service at 7:00 pm and will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday. Olson was born on January 20, 1943 in Marshall, Minnesota to Opal McChesney. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and lived in Marshall for a short time before moving to Hendricks where David attended and graduated from Hendricks High School. After graduation, David moved back to the Marshall area and then found work in the Minneapolis area. He was united in marriage to Shirley Schrunk. On June 21, 1985, David married Rosanne Mohning at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Luverne, MN where David worked for the Rock County Highway Department for 26 years and was a member of the Minnesota Street Rod Association. In 2012, David and Rosanne moved to Wabasso and became members of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. David loved old cars, racing, wood working, gardening, camping, the Minnesota Vikings, country music, especially Waylon Jennings and George Strait. Whoppers and Peeps were among his favorite foods. What meant the most to David was being a hard worker and being able to provide for his family. On Monday, November 10, 2014 David passed away at the Seasons Hospice House in Redwood Falls, Minnesota at the age of 71 years old. David is survived by his wife Rosanne Olson of Wabasso; children, Greg (Lora Lynn) Olson of Sioux Falls, SD, Benjamin Olson of Elkton, SD, Jennifer (Travis) Welch of Vesta, and Jeff Rollinger of LaMars, IA; grandchildren, Ethan Olson, Allison, Gabrielle, and Sam Welch; sisters, Lynette Stehlik, and Carol Walker; aunts, uncles, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Shirley, one brother and one sister. Blessed be his memory.
