Delores M. Gniffke, age 88, of Cottonwood, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the University of Minnesota Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis. Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. Visitation will start at noon on Friday and will continue until the time of service. Gniffke was born on March 2, 1926 to Harold Sr. and Elsie (Fleck) Olson at the family farm in Ramey, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and graduated from Foley Public High School. After graduation, she moved to Minneapolis to work at Sears and lived with her grandmother. On April 9, 1949, Delores was united in marriage to Loris Gniffke in Minneapolis and they made their home in Cottonwood. Delores was a wife and homemaker and was very active with Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, spending many years with altar guild. Delores enjoyed playing cards, bridge club, canning and cooking, shopping, flowers, and most importantly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her two children, Sheila Gniffke – Pribyl (and Thomas) of Roseville, and Sandra (and Terry) Culhane of Marshall; five grandchildren, Jennifer Remitz, Jessica Pribyl, Nathan Pribyl, Ashley Culhane, and Allison Culhane; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Edna McCormick of St. Cloud, Karen Reeves of Atlanta, GA, and Sharon O’Brien of Dawsonville, GA; and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Loris, infant son Gary Dale, three brothers Orlo, Harold Jr., and Curtis, and one sister Candace. Blessed be her memory.
