Mary Jane Salfer, age 85, of Wabasso passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 pm on Tuesday at the church with a parish prayer service at 7:00 pm with a rosary service to follow led by the Catholic Order of Foresters and CCW. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Online condolences may be placed at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Mary Jane Salfer was born on August 1, 1929 to Frank and Bernadetta (Holdgrafer) Frericks in Plymouth County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, Iowa and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School. She lived in Remsen, Iowa before moving to Wabasso, Minnesota. On October 26, 1950, Mary Jane was united in marriage to LeRoy Salfer at the St. Anne’s Catholic School. They made their home in the Wabasso area where Mary Jane worked as a nurse’s aide for the Wabasso Nursing Home and cleaning personnel for the Redwood Area Hospital. She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso where she was involved with the CCW and St. Joseph Court #1176 Catholic Order of Foresters. Mary Jane enjoyed embroidery, counted cross stitch, puzzles, word finds, playing cards, bird watching, and spending time with her friends and family. She also played the violin in grade school. On Saturday, January 3, 2015, Mary Jane passed away peacefully at the Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls, Minnesota at the age of 85 years old. She is survived by her nine children, Barbara (David) Larson of Canby, Susan (Dennis) Wildt of Morgan, Pamela (Marvin) Zollner of Wabasso, Judy Larsen of Stewartville, Marlene (Dale) Jenniges of Sanborn, Tom (Amy) Salfer of Marshall, Marie (Peter) Jenniges of Wabasso, Bruce (Julie) Salfer of Belle Plaine, and Bill Salfer of Wabasso; one brother Ray Frericks of Olivia, one sister Doris Meyer of New Ulm, and two sisters-in-law Mary Frericks of Wabasso, and Delores Frericks of Wanda; nineteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and four step-great grandchildren, and many extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband LeRoy, her parents, two brothers Ralph and Robert Frericks, one great grandchild Mishal’ Abu-Saleh, and one son-in-law Lynn M. Larsen. Blessed be her memory.
