Harold H. Jesse, age 84 of Wood Lake passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Parkview Home in Belview. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Posen Township, rural Wood Lake. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church with burial held in the church cemetery. Harold Herman Jesse was born on October 12, 1930 to Herman and Anna (Mohr) Jesse at his home in Pomeroy, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pomeroy, Iowa and graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1948. After high school, Harold farmed for a few years in the area before starting his own business called Jesse Insurance Services. On November 20, 1949, Harold was united in marriage to Juanita Winebrinner at Fonda Presbyterian Church in Fonda, Ia. They made their home in Pomeroy, Iowa where Harold farmed and sold insurance. In 1986, Harold sold the business and they moved to Oklahoma where Harold continued to sell insurance until he retired in 1998. After retiring, they moved one last time to Minnesota. Over the years, Harold was active in various church organizations and community activities, and as a Lion’s Club member both in Iowa and Minnesota. Harold enjoyed singing, fishing, and golfing. He also very much enjoyed being in front of a microphone, announcing local football games and other community events. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. Harold really enjoyed life, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. On Saturday, January 10, 2015, Harold passed away at the Parkview Home in Belview at the age of 84 years old. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Juanita Jesse of Wood Lake; three sons, Bill (Sue) Jesse of Waukee, IA, Paul (Denise) Jesse of Wood Lake, and Harold Dean (Maggie) Jesse of North Liberty, IA, one daughter, Pam, seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; one brother, Pete (Ruth) Jesse, two sisters, Darlene (Mayo) Chance, and Pauline Roush, and many extended family. His parents, two brothers, and one brother-in-law preceded him in death. Blessed be his memory.
