Arnold A. Berthelsen, age 77 of Wood Lake, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital in Granite Falls. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Rock Haven Church in Granite Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arnold “Arnie” Anders Berthelsen was born on January 23, 1938 to Anders and Dagmar (Rasmussen) Berthelsen in Lincoln County, Marshfield Township. He was baptized and confirmed at Danebod Lutheran Church in Tyler, Minnesota. He attended country school near Lake Benton and graduated from the Lake Benton Public Schools in 1956. On August 8, 1959, Arnie was united in marriage to Marles Bolte in Ivanhoe, Minnesota and they made their home in Tyler. Arnie worked various jobs over the years at Southside Produce where Arnie ran a portable feed grinder, Jasperson Cement, and for John Forsythe corn shelling and driving truck. In 1967, Arnie and Marles moved to Wood Lake where Arnie worked as an assistant manager at the Equity Elevator in Wood Lake. Arnie was involved with the Sportsmans Club and also helped with Boy Scouts for several years. Arnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, swimming, horses, his dogs, and working on cars. He loved spending time with his family, especially when his grandchildren and great grandchildren came over after school. On Sunday, April 5, 2015, Arnie passed away at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife Marles of Wood Lake; four children LeAnn (Peter Gunlogson) Lange of Wood Lake, Jeffrey (Sandy) Berthelsen of Echo, Jody Mensink of Wood Lake, and Shelly (Tony Berding) Olson of Wood Lake; five grandchildren Erin (Jon) Denzer, Courtney Lange, Tyler and Tony Berthelsen, and Chantel Olson; three great grandchildren Noah, Mya and T.J; one brother Dennis Berthelsen of Robinsdale, and other extended family. His parents and two sons-in-law Gary Olson and Dennis Mensink preceded him in death. Blessed be his memory.
