Adella B. Geistfeld, 90, of Wood Lake, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the Parkview Home in Belview. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Wednesday at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo with a prayer service at 7:00 pm and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Online condolences may be placed at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Adella Bernice Geistfeld was born September 27, 1924 to Bennie and Edna (Jeseritz) Erickson in Redwood County, Minnesota. She was baptized on October 19, 1924 at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood by the Reverend H.L. Otterstad. She was confirmed May 22, 1938 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wood Lake by Reverend F.E. Traub. She attended country school in Redwood County and parochial school in Wood Lake and graduated from Wood Lake High School in 1942. On June 25, 1944 Adella was united in marriage to Orville Geistfeld at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake by Reverend F.E. Traub. They lived on the groom’s farm south of Wood Lake. They moved to a house in Wood Lake in 1969 and into an apartment in 2001. In April of 2011, Adella moved to the Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Cottonwood and on April 22, 2015, Adella became a resident of the Parkview Home in Belview. She was a member of the St. John’s Women Society. Adella enjoyed needle work, quilting and crocheting afghans for her family, baking, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family. On Sunday, May 17, 2015 Adella passed away peacefully at the Parkview Home in Belview surrounded by her family at the age of 90. She is survived by her four children Marion (Gene) Slettedahl of New Ulm, Sharon (James) Timm of Wabasso, Joyce (Steve) Mensink of Wood Lake, and Beverly (John) Schrupp of Wood Lake; one sister Lois Fenger of Mankato, two sisters-in-law Viola Fiene of Wood Lake and Reta Erickson of Cushing; nine grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Orville, parents, and a brother Bennett. Blessed be her memory.
