Funeral Services for Alton C. Beadell, age 89 of Vesta, will be held at 11AM on Friday, June 5, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home in Echo and one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. A prayer service will be held at 6:45PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Interment to follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association is caring for the family. Online condolences can be made at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com. Alton Charles Beadell was born on October 4, 1925 in Echo, MN to Benjamin and Lydia (Bendix) Beadell. Alton was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On January 1, 1953 Alton married Gladys Henriksen at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. After their marriage, Alton and Gladys farmed near Vesta. Alton enjoyed the daily duties that came with running a dairy farm, and also enjoyed spending time with his family whether that was socializing on family deer hunts or helping with hay even in his later years. Alton also enjoyed caring for his horses, Jimmy and Jackie. Alton was a proud Army veteran, serving in the Army Corps of Engineers stationed in Kobe, Japan. Alton passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall. Alton is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Gladys; sons, Steve (Cyndy) Beadell of Redwood Falls, John (Donna) Beadell of Wabasso, and David (Vicki) Beadell of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Deborah (Jeff) Drake, Rebekah, Benjamin, and Jonathan Beadell, Rachel (Ricky) Mariner, Aaron Beadell and fiancé, Jenna and her son Gage, Joshua (Amber) Beadell, Nick (Michelle) Beadell, Jessica (Joe) Nelson, Alyssa (Dustin) Baker and Andrew Beadell; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Von) Beadell of Chualar, CA, Ronald (Kathy) Beadell of Loveland, CO, Donald (Joyce) Beadell of Delhi; sisters, Virginia (Dean) Faltinson of Tracy, Annette (Lowell) Anderson of Springfield, and Shirley (Loren) Zimmer of Wentworth, SD: and brother-in-law, Glenn Erickson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Lydia; grandson, Matthew Beadell; and sisters, Delphine (Dwayne) Kautz, Evelyn (Larry) Bleninger, Dorothy Beadell, and Glorraine Erickson. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. A special thanks to the staff of Prairie Home Hospice and the Avera Hospital – Marshall for their tender care given to Alton. Also, thank you to the Marshall Police Department for their assistance to Alton and Gladys on Friday, May 29.
