Lois Amy Schmidt, 91, of Willmar, formerly of Belview and Renville, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2015 at Scandia in Willmar. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 4, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Renville. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 pm on Thursday at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Lois Amy (Johnson) Schmidt was born on September 4, 1923 to Earl and Elsie (Donner) Johnson in Johnsonville Township, Redwood County Minnesota. She was baptized on April 27, 1924 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Balaton, confirmed on June 25, 1939 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Johnsonville Township, and graduated in 1941 from Wabasso High School. On October 6, 1946 Lois was united in marriage to Floyd Schmidt at Trinity Lutheran Church. They made their home on a farm near Belview, Minnesota. During WWII, Lois worked as a “Rosie the Riveter”. After their marriage, Floyd and Lois farmed and raised four children. She was a charter member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Ladies Aid in Seaforth, Minnesota. In 2009, Lois and Floyd moved to the Meadows on Main apartments in Renville and in September 2014, Lois moved to Scandia in Willmar. On Monday, August 31, 2015 Lois passed away at Scandia in Willmar, Minnesota four days short of her 92nd birthday. She is survived by her three children Faye Ann Schmidt of Renville, Vicki (Jim) Hoffman of Starbuck, and Linda (Kevin) Kroschel of Sandstone; one sister LaVon Good of Starbuck; one sister-in-law Laura Schmidt of Vesta; one brother-in-law George Wickstrom of Faribault; 16 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren Sara Schmidt, Claudia [Mike] Schroeder (Isaiah, Spencer, Jaxon, McKenna), Maria Schmidt, Yolanda [Andrew] Dahlen (Ethan, Preston), Mery [Kenneth] Montague (Obadiah, Josiah, Micaiah, Nehemiah, Sophia), Tanya Hoffman, James Hoffman, Josie Hoffman, Damien [Vanessa] Hoffman (Porter, Aurelia), Talia Hoffman (Bromli), Dylan Hoffman, Jada Hoffman, Jacob [Jessica] Schmidt (Mason, Tyson, Madalyn, Addison, Lucy, Dani), Kyle Schmidt, Zakery Kroschel (Collin, Owen, Reid), and Shana [Tony] Stiel (Griffin, Nolan, Brittyn). She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd, son Alan, her parents, two brothers Lyle Johnson and LaVern Johnson Sr., and one sister Karen Johnson. Blessed be her memory.
