Shirley Ann Howard, 76, of Wood Lake passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Olivia, MN. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home in Echo with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Shirley Ann Howard was born on November 27, 1938 to Martin and Elizabeth (Enzenauer) Leuze in Raymond, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Raymond. On March 15, 1954, Shirley was united in marriage to Sylvester Pitts in Watertown, South Dakota. They lived in Kandiyohi for several years before moving to a farm site between Olivia and Morton and eventually moving the home into Morton. After Sylvester’s death in 1985, Shirley married Pat Howard and they made their home in Boyd, Minnesota. They moved together one last time to Wood Lake where she remained until entering the Golden Living Center of Olivia in February of 2014. While in Wood Lake, Shirley was an active member of the Wood Lake United Methodist Church. Shirley loved horses, raising fouls, riding, going to shows, and just being around them. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading romance novels, gardening, canning, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. On Wednesday, October 28, 2015 Shirley passed away peacefully at the Golden Living Center in Olivia, Minnesota at the age of 76. She is survived by her children Larry (Gloria Petersen) Pitts of Wood Lake, Michael (Stephanie) Pitts of Baxter, and Ellie (Rob Kompelien) Schuster of Minneota; grandchildren Jeremy Pitts, Jamie Pitts, Anna Pitts, Wyatt Schuster, and Michaela Schuster; nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her two husbands Sylvester Pitts and Pat Howard, her parents Martin and Elizabeth, two grandchildren Ashley and Amber Schuster, and siblings Clarence, Lloyd, Donald, and Helen.
