Roland John Luepke, 76, of Echo, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 09, 2015. Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Peace Lutheran Church in Echo. Visitation will be 4-7 pm on Wednesday at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in the Echo Cemetery with a luncheon to follow back at the church. Online condolences may be placed at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Roland John Luepke was born on January 28, 1939 to Otto and Anna (Panitzke) Luepke in Echo, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Peace Lutheran Church in Echo, attended country school near Echo, and graduated from Echo High School. After graduation, Roland enlisted into the United States Army and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska until his honorable discharge in 1959. On June 9, 1962 Roland was united in marriage to June Kolander at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. They made their home on a farm near Echo where Roland farmed his entire life. Over the years, Roland was active at Peace Lutheran Church with various positions on the church council and was on the Echo Township Board for 25 years. Roland loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and family. He also enjoyed dancing and traveling, and loved to set up his big Christmas light display on the farm. On Monday, November 09, 2015, Roland passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife June of Echo; four children, William (Darci) Luepke of Olivia, Bruce (Julie) Luepke of Pennock, Jeffrey Luepke of Belview, and Brian (Elizabeth) Luepke of Mankato; nine grandchildren, Jennifer and Samantha Luepke, Chelsey, Tasha, Brooke, and Kyra Luepke, and Alexander, Jonathan, and Andrew Luepke; five siblings, Delores Ommen of Aberdeen, SD, Alyce (Harvey) Bartelt of Waubay, SD, Jane (Jerry) Mlinar of Hudson, WI, Gladys (Roger) Ware of Hudson, WI, and Lorraine Geiger of New Ulm; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters Norma Anderson and Florence Anderson. Blessed be his memory.
