Lee Potter, 90, of Vesta, MN passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Franklin. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, November 23, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. Visitation will be from 3 – 5 pm on Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in the Vesta Cemetery with military honors. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Lee Ner Potter was born on Wednesday, April 1, 1925 to Ner and Myra (French) Potter in Vesta Township, Redwood County. In his childhood, Lee moved with his family to several different farms and attended many different country schools. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. In 1944, Lee enlisted into the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946. On November 23, 1947 Lee was united in marriage to Natalie Voss at Peace Lutheran Church in Echo. In 1949 they resided on a farm near Wabasso before moving to a farm near Vesta in 1952. In 1991 they left the farm and moved into Vesta. During his farming years, Lee learned to fly and work on airplanes. He also worked with horse tack and was exceptionally good at sharpening tools and blades for local neighbors and friends. Lee was a 46 year member of the Vesta American Legion and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. Lee had a love for reading, especially Westerns, enjoyed traveling by RV to many bluegrass festivals, enjoying bluegrass and gospel music, and spending many winters in Arizona. He was especially fond of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. On Thursday, November 19, 2015, Lee passed away peacefully at the age of 90 years, 7 months, and 19 days old. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Natalie Potter of Vesta; 3children, Susan (Howard) Breitkreutz of Alexandria, Bruce (Mary) Potter of Echo, and Kathleen (Brian) Williams of Montevideo; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; 2 siblings, Frank Potter of Austin, and Betty Splinter of St. Paul; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, Arnold Potter, his parents, and brother, Roy Potter. Blessed be his memory.
