Darold Fred Doose, 92, of Granite Falls, passed away on Tuesday, July 05, 2016 at the Granite Manor in Granite Falls. Funeral services will be 1:30 pm on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church in Granite Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Darold Fred Doose, son of Fred and Mabel (Stewart) Doose was born on Monday, December 3, 1923 at home on the farm of Thomas Stewart Jr. in Wood Lake Township. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, attended country school at District #13 and District #71 through eighth grade, and graduated from Wood Lake High School in 1942. After graduation, he worked on his father’s farm until the winter of 1946 when he and his cousin went to Washington state where they worked for a short time. He returned to Minnesota and began working at the Granite Falls Co-op Creamery Association as a buttermaker. On March 5, 1950, Darold was united in marriage to Gladys Haugen at Hazel Run Lutheran Church and made their home in Granite Falls. In 1953, they moved to an acreage in Minnesota Falls Township and Darold also began working at Northern States Power Company in Granite Falls where he worked for 34 plus years before retiring in 1987. Over the years, Darold was on the Wood Lake Cemetery Board, Cub Scout leader, and a member of Granite Falls Lutheran Church. Darold enjoyed camping with his children all over the US, hunting, fishing, hobby farming, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and family. On Tuesday, July 05, 2016, Darold passed away at the Granite Manor in Granite Falls at the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 2 days. He is survived by his wife Gladys Doose of Granite Falls; five children, Jeffrey (Jill) Doose of Athens, OH, Gregory (Susan) Doose of Granite Falls, Michael (Kristi) Doose of Granite Falls, Melinda (Gregory) Schmidt of Wood Lake, and Brian (Lianne) Doose of Wood Lake; grandchildren, Christopher (Misti) Doose, Scott (Jessica) Doose, Marc (Margaret) Doose, Nathan (Melissa) Doose, Chad (special friend Courtney Lange) Doose, Andrew Schmidt, Lacey (Michael) Timm, Megan (Shane) Laleman, Abbey (Timothy) Johanneck, Taylor Schmidt, Heidi Schmidt, Zachery Doose, Cody Doose, and Dustin Doose; eighteen great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Evelyn Kjos, Margery Cunningham, and great grandson, Lincoln Timm. Blessed be his memory.
