Elizabeth Marie Nielsen

Elizabeth Marie Nielsen, 94, of Revere, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Valley View Manor in Lamberton. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in Walnut Grove with visitation one hour prior to the service. Elizabeth Marie Nielsen was born on October 11, 1921 to Napoleon and Hattie (Bashaw) Jarvis in Westline Township, Redwood County. She grew up near Milroy and was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Johnsonville Township. She attended Country School #43 and Milroy Public School. On September 26, 1941, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Walter Nielsen in Vesta, Minnesota. They made their home on a farm north of Walnut Grove for a couple years before moving to Revere in 1946. Elizabeth worked as a waitress at the Riviera Club, and as a cook for the Revere Home and their family restaurant, the Revere Café. In 2004, Elizabeth moved to the Valley View Manor in Lamberton. Elizabeth enjoyed fishing, traveling around the United States, and spending time with her family and friends. On Saturday, July 23, 2016, Elizabeth passed away at the Valley View Manor in Lamberton at the age of 94 years, 9 months, and 12 days. She is survived by her daughter, Betty (Don) Halvorson of Windom; two daughters-in-law, Lynn Nielsen of Worthington, and Joyce Nielsen of Windom; 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, sons Edward and Morris, grandson Corey, and siblings Anna, Agnes, Isabelle, Netalie, Napoleon and Peter. Blessed be her memory.
