The funeral service for Oliver Moldestad, 85, of rural Belview, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home in Echo. Interment will follow the service at the Belview City Cemetery. Military Honors provided by the U.S. American Legion Post 309 of Belview. Oliver “Ollie” Elmer Moldestad was born on December 4, 1930, in Delhi, MN, to Abraham and Jennie (Lyslo) Moldestad. He attended grade school in Delhi and later graduated from Belview High School. Ollie served in the U.S. Army from 1953 – 1955. On July 27, 1958, he was united in marriage to Eunice Knutson at the Rock Dell Lutheran Church in Belview. The couple lived on a farm ½ mile south of Belview. They enjoyed family vacations, time at the lake and trips around the five state area. He also enjoyed going to his Army Reunions. He worked as the manager at the fertilizer plant in Delhi for 20 years before retiring. He was Past Adjutant for the U.S. American Legion Post #309 of Belview. Over the years, Ollie enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins, playing town team softball, basketball, bowling, fishing, golf, square dancing, gardening and woodworking. Ollie died with his wife of 58 years by his side on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at the Wood Dale Home in Redwood Falls, MN, where he was a resident since August 12, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Eunice of Belview, children Kevin (and Deborah) Moldestad of Farmington, Karen (and Dwayne) Stark of Belview, Kathy Burket of Belview, grandchildren Brooks, Nathan (and Angie,) Ryan (and Kala,) Autumn, Derek, Noah, Eva, great-grandchildren Griffin, Evan, Sophie, Lauren and Abraham, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Grace Thompson, Arthur “Bud” Moldestad and Anna Engeman Howard. Blessed be his memory.
