Delphine “Dotti” F. Hansvick, 89, of Vesta, Minnesota passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Friday, September 23, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Thursday at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Delphine “Dotti” Frances (Penske) Hansvick was born on Monday, January 10, 1927 to Gustav and Emma (Kolander) Penske in Echo, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. She attended and graduated from Echo Public Schools and was very proud to be the first in her family to receive her high school diploma. After graduation, Dotti received her teachers’ certificate from Lamberton Teachers College and taught in a one-room country school until she got married and became a homemaker to raise her children and family. On June 5, 1948, Dotti was united in marriage to John Elwood Hansvick at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. They made their home in Vesta where Dotti remained her entire life. After raising her children, Dotti attended Southwest State University in Marshall where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta and was also active with the Woman’s Association at the Vesta Presbyterian Church. Dotti enjoyed gardening and took great care and pride in her home and land, especially the wildflowers and prairie grass. She had a very playful spirit and loved to entertain family and friends. She also loved the community of Vesta and gave significant donations to build the new Vesta Café and the St. John’s Church Bells restoration. On Tuesday, September 20, 2016, Dotti passed away at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis at the age of 89. She is survived by her three children Christine (Brian Harron) Hansvick of Kent, WA, David (Ann) Hansvick of Marshall and Vern (Judy) Hansvick of Litchfield; eight grandchildren Ashley (Dana) Harron, Andrew (Sandra) Harron, Erik (Miranda) Hansvick, Sarah (Craig) Sanderson, Matt (Melissa) Hansvick, Seth (Katie) Hansvick, Maggie (Dave) Pearson and Molly Hansvick; three great-grandchildren Andie, Isaac and Caleb Sanderson; two siblings Marvin Penske and Vonnie Wells; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband John Elwood Hansvick, her parents, siblings Allen (Doris) Penske, Howard (Arletta) Penske, Kenny (Joyce) Penske, Carmen Penske, Gilfie (Jeff) Lyons, Goldie Wells and an infant brother Glenn.
