Ione Lois Mensink, 94, of Wood Lake, MN passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Granite Manor in Granite Falls. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM on Monday, November 7, 2016 at the Wood Lake United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Wood Lake Cemetery. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Ione Lois (Neuman) Mensink was born on January 5, 1922 to Edward and Hattie (Linde) Neuman on a farm near Wood Lake. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake and Graduated from Wood Lake High School. On May 10, 1942, Ione was united in marriage to Edward Mensink in Wood Lake, Minnesota. They made their home together in Wood Lake. Ione worked for several different businesses over the years including Barges in Wood Lake, Poor Borch’s in Marshall, Granite Falls Hospital and Manor, and retired from Artysyn in Redwood Falls at the age of 77. She was a member of the Wood Lake United Methodist Church and was active with the ladies aid. Ione enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and playing cards. She also liked to have coffee and visit with friends and family, and loved her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. On Thursday, November 3, 2016, Ione passed away at the Granite Manor in Granite Falls at the age of 94. She is survived by her children Robert (Jan) Mensink of Burnsville, Steven (Joyce) Mensink of Wood Lake, Jeff “Gunner” (Becky) Mensink of Granite Falls, Rebecca (Dennis) Meyer of Wood Lake, daughter-in-law Jody Mensink, and step daughter Marlys Nagel; grandchildren Amy (Korey) Herrick, David (Trina) Mensink, Tony (Jess) Mensink, Brandon (Ali) Mensink, Pam (Kurt) Jensen, Beth (Jamie) Olson, Justin Meyer and Tyler Meyer; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Dennis, husband Edward, brother Elmer “Sonny” Neuman, sisters Helen House, Hazel Beedy and Myrtle Neuman and step daughter Coleen Schmidt.
