Wilbur J. Frank, 92, of Wabasso, MN passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Wabasso. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Friday at the church with a parish prayer service at 7:00 PM followed by the rosary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Wilbur Joseph Frank was born on December 2, 1923 to John and Margaret (Welsch) Frank in New Avon Township, Redwood County. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. On November 24, 1944, Wilbur was drafted into the United States Army during WWII, assigned to the 169th Infantry and stationed in the Philippine Islands. He was honorably discharged on February 28, 1946. On August 29, 1950, Wilbur was united in marriage to Joan Bernardy at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan. They made their home on a farm near Wabasso where Wilbur farmed until 1970. He then went to work in the parts department at Hopfenspirger-Schoffman in Redwood Falls. He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso and the American Legion Victor Hirsch Post #263. He enjoyed horseshoes, playing concertina, watching his children play softball and spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. After his retirement he kept busy taking care of some of his grandchildren and his cats. On Monday, November 21, 2016, Wilbur passed away at the Golden Living Center in Wabasso at the age of 92. He is survived by his children John (Charlene) Frank of Wabasso, Mike (Chris) Frank of Wabasso, Diane (Jim) Guetter of Wabasso, Mary (Jeff) Heiling of Wabasso, Suzie (John) VanLoy of Wabasso, Cathy (Todd) Altermatt of Wabasso, Steve (Janell) Frank of Wanda, Janice (special friend Bob Wesely) Baune of Wabasso, Margaret (Jeff) Fennern of Wabasso, David Frank of Wabasso, Ken (fiancé Julie Funk) Frank of Chanhassen, Lori (Steve) Koch of Slayton, Dennis (Nancy) Frank of Wabasso and Vicki (Craig) Irlbeck of Wanda; sisters Mary Ann Krueger of Redwood Falls and Elaine Schmidt of Redwood Falls; 43 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan, two sons Jim and George, two great grandchildren Landon and Emma Miller, two brothers Raymond and Edward and four sisters Dorothy, Helen, Arlene and Louise.
