Thomas Huso, 83, of Cottonwood, MN passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Marshall-Avera Regional Medical Center in Marshall. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Living Word Lutheran Church in Marshall with visitation one hour prior to the service. A private family interment will take place. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. THOMAS MILTON HUSO born April 12, 1933 at the Montevideo hospital to Thorbjorn and Mildred (Olson) Huso. He attended country school through grade eight and graduated in 1950 from Cottonwood High School. He served in the Armed Forces from 1956 – 1957 when he was honorably discharged. On February 11, 1961 he married Erma Wells at the Federated Church in Marshall, MN. Together they farmed until 1982 when they bought and operated the Stop-Lite Café for ten years in Marshall. Tom received his CDL driver’s license and drove semi for Viessman Trucking for a year. He began employment at Farmers Co-op Elevator in 1994 where he delivered feed to local farmers for fifteen years. At age 75 he became employed with Cenex Agronomy Center until a heart condition forced his retirement in April, 2016. Tom enjoyed many flowers, especially petunias and zinnias. A large garden was important to him and preserving the fruits of his labor. Many people enjoyed his apple crisps, lefse, and hundreds of pints of salsa. Tom was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. He served on the board of education, Trustees, Deacons, and taught first grade Sunday school for ten years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #503 in Cottonwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thorbjorn (Tom) and Mildred Huso and youngest brother Lyle Huso. Leaving to morn his passing is his wife Erma and three children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Michael Thomas Huso (Rhonda Heairet), of Cottonwood, Kay Charles Huso (Christine), of Slayton, and Kathryn Ann Ostendorf (Bernardo Jaramillo) of Little Elm, TX; Grandchildren: Stephanie (Jeff) Bragg and son Alden, Kirbie Tedrick, Andrea Tedrick, Thomas Huso, and Rachael Huso; Tajae Viaene (Seth Rasmussen) and son Desmond; Brother Alton (Carol) Huso of Cottonwood, nieces, nephews and cousins plus many dear friends and acquaintances..
