June Schaffran

June Schaffran, 86, of Lucan passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 at the family farm near Lucan. Memorial services will be 1:30 PM on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Wabasso with visitation beginning at 11:30 AM and continuing until the time of service. In Lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Wabasso Library, WAFER, Lucan First Responders or Bethany Lutheran Church. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family.   June Schaffran was born on June 23, 1930 to John “Jack” and Helen (Whittet) Sexton in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. She was baptized at Redwood Falls United Methodist Church and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church. She attended elementary school in Redwood Falls and Viola, Illinois for a few years before returning to the Redwood Falls area where she graduated in 1948. She then worked in the office at J.C. Penney in Redwood Falls until marriage. On June 26, 1954, June was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” Schaffran at the United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls. They made their home in the Lucan area where June was a homemaker. June was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Wabasso. She was very proud of her entire family and loved to spend time with them whenever she could. On Monday, November 21, 2016 June passed away at the family farm near Lucan at the age of 86. She is survived by her husband Jerry of Lucan; children Rodney (and Debra) of Mora, Dean of Newton, IA, Wesley of Houston, TX, Thomas (and Sharon) of Seward, NE, Wayne (and Patricia) of Chaska and Curtis (and Colleen) of Apple Valley; sister Betty Anderson of Glenwood City, WI; 9 grandchildren; and additional extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Mammen and Nancy Than. Blessed be her memory.
