Mass of Christian Burial for Karen Jenniges, 65, of Wanda, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at the church in Wanda. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Interment will follow the service at St. Mathias Catholic Cemetery in Wanda. Karen was born on March 30, 1951. She was adopted as a baby from the St. Paul Orphanage and grew up in a loving family in Watkins, MN. She graduated in 1969 from the Eden Valley – Watkins High School. In 1970, she was married to Tom Ruprecht. The couple had three beautiful children: Jeremy, Chad and Tanya. They divorced in 1976. Karen and her children moved to Wanda in 1981. She had many jobs over the years including bartending, cooking, waitressing, nursing, painting and decorating. She loved most of them. Karen and her family owned and operated the Southside Bar & Grill in Wanda for 6 ½ years making lots of new friends. She married her best friend, Nick Jenniges, in 1990. They continued to farm near Wanda. Karen collected a lifetime of great friends who were always there for her. She loved spending time with her family and friends; cooking, all crafts, cardmaking, scrapbooking and decorating, deck parties and happy hours. She was a four year Council Woman for the City of Wanda. She grilled hamburgers for over 30 years for ball tournaments and volunteered for many jobs. She cooked and served Memorial Day Dinner at the Wanda Legion for 20 years donating all proceeds to the Legion in memory of her son Jeremy Ruprecht who was an Army Veteran. Karen died on Saturday, November 26, 2016, under the care of Hospice at her home in Wanda. She is survived by her husband Nick Jenniges, son Chad Ruprecht, daughter Tanya Hunter, grandchildren Jaymee Ruprecht, Brandi Ruprecht, Landon Evans, Tanner Ruprecht, Ariel Johnson, Desi (and Dave) Morrison and Amber Anderson, great-grandchildren Bentley Hultquist and Aiden Mude, Poppy, Brynnlee and Jori Morrison, brother Steve (and Deb) Vossen, their children Addie, Brian and Ashley, brothers-in-law Rick (and Carol) Jenniges, Jerry Jenniges, Bill (and Melissa) Jenniges, Jim (and Dawn) Jenniges, sisters-in-law Anne (and Joe) Williams, Helen (and Mark) Guetter, Betsy (and Tom) Holm, Patty (and Gary) Peterson, Mary (and Brad) Eggersdorfer and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Lucille Vossen, her oldest son, Jeremy Ruprecht, and in-laws Austin and Susan Jenniges.
