Genevieve Morken, 89, of Cottonwood, passed away on Thursday, February 02, 2017 at the Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 PM on Monday at the church with a prayer service at 7:00 PM and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Genevieve Eloise Morken was born on March 11, 1927 on the family farm north of Cottonwood to Alfred and Emma (Isaackson) Loe. She was baptized and confirmed at Silo Lutheran Church in Cottonwood and graduated from Cottonwood High School. After graduation, she attended Macalaster College in St. Paul for one year. On April 10, 1948, Genevieve was united in marriage to Olaf Morken on the family farm. Genevieve was a homemaker and helped out on the farm as well. She also worked in the ASCS office in Clarkfield for several years. She was very proud to grow up and live on the family farm which became a century farm in 1992. Genevieve was active on the Cottonwood School Board, Sons of Norway and a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church. She had a very strong faith and was dedicated to her church. Genevieve enjoyed painting, quilting, hardanger, deer hunting, fishing, traveling, baking and spending time with her friends and family. On Thursday, February 2, 2017, Genevieve passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield at the age of 89. She is survived by her children Ann (Joe) Hoff of Cottonwood, Gary (Darla) Morken of Cottonwood and Randy (Mary) Morken of Alexandria; grandchildren Jesse (Michelle) Hoff, Jenny (Ralph) Keen, Andrea (Troy) Benson, Adam (Mindy) Maker, Rachel (Jeremy) Mead, Eric (Mali) Morken and Ashley (Andy) Frank; 13 great grandchildren and additional extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Olaf, daughter Sally Allison, sisters Edith Kufus and Alice Palmer and special friend Alan Swennes. Blessed be her memory.
