Joy Janachovsky, 58, of Spirit Lake, IA, formerly of Lucan passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the Spirit Lake Hospital in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 PM on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Joy Darlene Janachovsky was born on October 3, 1958 to Robert and Phyllis (Bauer) Janachovsky at the Redwood Falls Hospital. She attended Our Lady of Victory Catholic School and graduated from Walnut Grove High School. After graduation from the College of St. Benedict, she was employed by the Extension Service in Chamberlain, South Dakota, then Webster City, Iowa, and later became the Extension Director at Spirit Lake, Iowa. Her passion was working with youth and the 4-H program. Joy also enjoyed traveling, reading, and visiting with family and friends. On Tuesday, February 7, 2017, Joy passed away unexpectedly at the Spirit Lake Hospital at the age of 58. She is survived by her mother Phyllis; brothers Eugene and Greg; sister Jayne (Dale) Kazemba; nephew Derek Kazemba; niece Danyelle (Mitch) Masters; and great nephew Luca Masters.
