Alphonse N. Goblirsch, 91, of Wabasso, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Sunwood Good Samaritan Society in Redwood Falls.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Monday, February 20, 2017 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso.  Visitation will be from 4 – 7 PM on Sunday at the church with a prayer service at 7:00 PM followed by a rosary led by the Catholic Order of Foresters.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.  Interment will be at the St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery.  Memorials preferred to the Father Deihl Endowment Fund.  The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Alphonse N. Goblirsch was born on September 3, 1925 to Frank and Anna (Pelzel) Goblirsch on the home farm in Vail Township, Redwood County.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Anne’s Catholic Church and attended St. Anne’s Catholic School.  Alphonse was a farmer his whole life in the Wabasso area and was active with St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters and on the Vail Township Board for many years.  After retirement, Alphonse worked for Mobil Fuel Service in Wabasso, plowed snow for the Redwood County Highway Department, worked at the fertilizer plant in the summer and helped a local farmer with field work.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, old time music and spending time with his family and friends. On Thursday, February 16, 2017, Alphonse passed away at the Sunwood Good Samaritan Society in Redwood Falls at the age of 91. He is survived by his brothers and sisters Francis (Rita) Goblirsch of Wabasso, Doris (Clarence) Rothmeier of Wabasso, Arnold (Pat) Goblirsch of Wabasso, Clarence (special friend Phyllis) Goblirsch of Eagan, Mary (Mel) Liebl of Redwood Falls, Betty (Jim) Groebner of Princeton and sister-in-law Donna Goblirsch; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Helen Plaetz and Arlene Rothmeier, two brothers Bernard and Raymond Goblirsch, two brothers-in-law Henry Plaetz and Norbert Rothmeier and a sister-in-law Veronica Goblirsch. Blessed be his memory.
