Joseph Edmund Baune

Joseph Baune, 63, of Wood Lake passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at his residence in Wood Lake.  A sharing of memories will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be in the Cottonwood Catholic Cemetery following the service.  The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Joseph Edmund Baune was born on January 29, 1954 to Reynold and Ginger (Eaton) Baune in Redwood Falls, Minnesota.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso and attended school in Montgomery, Minnesota.  At the age of 16, Joseph joined the United States Navy.  After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Joseph moved to Cottonwood and was united in marriage to Melanie Haggard.  They moved to Marshall for a few years before moving to Colorado.  He then married Sunday Torres and they lived in Seattle and Texas before moving back to Minnesota and making their home in Wood Lake.  Joseph was a long time truck driver and loved mechanics.  He could build anything with an engine including go carts.  He also loved to teach people how to do mechanical work.  He also helped with the Toys 4 Tots run for several years. On Wednesday, February 22, 2017, Joseph passed away at his residence in Wood Lake at the age of 63. He is survived by his daughter Bobbi Jo Baune of Ivanhoe; grandchildren Maia, Lydia and Kyla Baune; and siblings Doug (Theresa) Baune, Sue (Bill) Hanson, Debra Jones, John (Kim) Baune, Sandra (Dave) Dworshak, Sharon (Brad) Matthys, Karen (Donnie) Dehncke, Troy (Kristi) Baune and Todd (Michelle) Baune; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reynold and Ginger Baune and grandson Michael. Blessed be his memory.
