Paul David Ims Sr.

Paul D. Ims Sr., 81, of Echo, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Clara City Care Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Granite Falls. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 PM on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at St. Luke’s Cemetery, Posen Township. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Paul David Ims Sr. was born on April 27, 1935 in Granite Falls to Sivert and Martha (Olson) Ims. He was baptized and confirmed at Rock Valle Lutheran Church and graduated from Echo High School in 1953. After high school he joined into the Army National Guard. On July 20, 1957, Paul was united in marriage to Dorothy Bode at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. They made their home on the Ims farm near Echo where Paul farmed his entire life. Over the years, he was active with several church organizations and on the Echo School Board. He enjoyed working hard, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family. On Wednesday, March 29, 2017, Paul passed away at the Clara City Care Center in Clara City at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Ims of Echo; children Paul (Meg) Ims Jr. of Huntingtown, MD, Josie (David) Dinkins of Mt. Airy, NC, Daniel (Mary ) Ims of Ballston Spa, NY, Maria (Larry) Sadd of Witchita, KS, Peter (Lorinda) Ims of Hanover and Matthew (Laura) Ims of Cincinnati, OH; seventeen grandchildren; siblings Gloria (James) Rust, Mary (Herman) Hamre, Margaret (William) Selfridge and Sandra (Steven) Cartwright; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Anita Nelson, Marilyn Rust and Sonja Rust, and brother Hilton Ims. Blessed be his memory.
