Allen Ray Van Lerberghe passed away at Avera Granite Falls Care Center on April 22, 2024. Allen was born on February 4, 1951 to Raymond and Joan (DeRider) Van Lerberghe at Weiner Memorial Hospital in Marshall, Minnesota. He was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cottonwood and confirmed at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Granite Falls. He attended and graduated from Wood Lake High School in 1969. Allen attended University of Minnesota for architecture but left to travel the country painting water towers. He painted commercial buildings all over the Twin Cities metro. When no longer able to handle the physical demands of painting, he put his extensive knowledge of the metro area to use driving taxi. Plus he liked to help at the farm mowing grass and other chores. He was a talker who liked to tell stories of the people he met along the way. He was generous and would give you the shirt off his back. He liked the Vikings and Twins but he was happiest when he was working. Allen was survived by his children Misty, Shawn and Jay, granddaughter Natalie, siblings Linda (Jack) Loch of St. Cloud, Brad (Marlys) Van Lerberghe of Wood Lake, Sandra (Steven) Naab of Marshall, Diane (Craig) Milbradt of Marshall, Pam (John) Keltgen of Carver and Trudy (John) Cariveau of Cambridge, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Joan Van Lerberghe, brother Greg, daughter-in-law, Sarah and niece Angela. Interment will be at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery in Granite Falls. A private graveside service will be held at a future date.
