Services for Carrol “Pete” Jordet, 95, of Sacred Heart, will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Military honors will take place outside the church following the service. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Carrol Wendell “Pete” Jordet was born on March 5, 1928, in Sacred Heart, MN, to Theodore and Alma (Myhre) Jordet. He grew up and attended school in Sacred Heart. At age 17, Pete enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Philippines during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Sacred Heart. On August 16, 1951, he was united in marriage to Viola Olson in Belview. To this union were born children Christine, Richard and Caroline. The family lived in Belview, Sacred Heart, Lester Prairie and Hutchinson. Pete worked as a heavy equipment operator for Juul Contracting for 40 years. After retirement, the couple lived in Sacred Heart. Pete loved camping and woodworking. He and Vi enjoyed attending craft shows. They also served as a host for the Lac qui Parle State Park. He was very generous and enjoyed helping folks, especially friends and family. Pete was fond of time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and Carrie’s farm animals. Pete belonged to the U.S. American Legion in Sacred Heart and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. Pete died on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the RenVilla Healthcare Center in Renville, MN. He is survived by his wife, Viola “Vi” of Sacred Heart, son Richard (Nancy) Jordet of Estherville, IA, daughter Caroline “Carrie” Jordet Freiborg (and Randy) of Renville, seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Christine Dahlberg and brother Richard Jordet (age 4). In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Sacred Heart or the Sacred Heart Area Museum.
