David Meier

David L. Meier, age 45, of Cottonwood, MN, died Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at his home in Cottonwood. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, December 15, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta, MN. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 PM Friday, December 14, 2018, also at the church in Vesta and continuing one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be in the Vesta Cemetery. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family.   David Lyle Meier was born on August 21, 1973 to Alvin Sr. and Doris (Gladitsch) Meier in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. On June 9, 2007, David was united in marriage to Stacy Popowski at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. They made their home in Vesta until moving to Cottonwood in 2012. David worked at Midcontinent for over 25 years and was a member of the Vesta Fire Department for over 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Minnesota Gophers and Vikings, playing cards, bowling, giving wet willys and spending time with family and friends. On Tuesday, December 4, 2018, David passed away at his home in Cottonwood at the age of 45. He is survived by his wife Stacy of Cottonwood; mother Doris Meier of Vesta; children Stephanie Popowski of Mankato and Brianna Edmundson of Clarkfield; grandson Anders Kack of Clarkfield; siblings Alvin Jr. of Vesta and Linda (Warren) Kolander of Vesta; three aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father Alvin Sr., paternal and maternal grandparents, five uncles and two aunts. Blessed be his memory.
