David Mueller, 79, of Echo, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017 at the Granite Falls Hospital in Granite Falls. Funeral services are 11:00 AM Friday, September 1, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church in Echo. Visitation is 4 – 8 PM on Thursday at the church with a prayer service at 7:00 PM and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in the Echo Cemetery. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. David Paul Mueller was born on December 21, 1937 on the family farm near Echo to Paul and Elsie (Boettcher) Mueller. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Echo and graduated from Echo High School. He then attended SDSU in Brookings for agriculture. On January 17, 1959, David was united in marriage to Joyce Lalim at Wang Lutheran Church in Maynard. They made their home on the farm near Echo where David was a dairy farmer. After years of farming, David sold the cows and worked for DHIA for 8 years traveling around to area farms testing milk. He was also on the Echo Coop board, DHIA board, Echo School board, Echo-Wood Lake School board, Peace Lutheran Church council, and active with the choir. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, football and softball. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, watching all types of sports and spending time with his family. On Monday, August 28, 2017, David passed away at the Granite Falls Hospital at the age of 79. He is survived by his wife Joyce of Echo; children Kris (Bruce) Helgeson of Wood Lake, Sue (Jim) Bollum of Buffalo, Connie (Kelly) Timm of Hanley Falls, Cindy Buyert of Clear Lake, SD and Keith (Tammi) Mueller of Wood Lake; grandchildren Josh (Cassie) Helgeson, Tim Helgeson, Kelsey (Gavin) Laleman, Abby Bollum, Jay Bollum, Austin Timm, Megan Timm, Matthew Buyert, Jacob Buyert, Daniel Hall and Zachary Mueller; great grandchildren Kason, Rylan, Hudson and Sutton Helgeson and Tennasyn Laleman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant twins Jeffery and Jerry, infant grandchild, two infant great grandchildren and two sisters Dorothea Hayes and Verna Larson. Blessed be his memory.
