David Allen Straumann

The funeral service for David “Poncho” Straumann, 83, of Redwood Falls, formerly Vesta, will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at the Johnsonville Cemetery south of Lucan. David Straumann was born on November 2, 1938, to Albert and Lila (Strand) Straumann in Johnsonville Township, Redwood County. He worked for 45 years in the Twin Cities for Keelor Steel. Poncho lived with his niece, Shelley Maasch while working in the cities and with Carol and Jerry Maasch on the weekends and after retirement. David died on Friday, December 17, 2021, at the River Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in Redwood Falls, MN. He is survived by his sisters Carol (and Jerry) Maasch and Karen (and Herb) Kreft of Vesta. Also survived by sisters-in-law Ardyce Strand of Wabasso and Barb Straumann of Belview and brother-in-law Jack Hunter of Belle Fouche, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents; Albert and Lila Straumann and siblings Doug Strand, Michael Straumann, Dee Ann Hunter and her infant twin sister.
