Doreen Ann Hanson, 85, of Wood Lake, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at the St. Cloud Medical Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Funeral servi ces will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 6, 2017 at Rock Valle Lutheran Church, rural Echo, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be at a later date.  Memorials preferred to Rice Hospice of Granite Falls or Rock Valle WELCA.  The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Doreen Ann (Alke) Hanson was born on December 31, 1931 in Granite Falls, Minnesota to Henry and Alma (Jeseritz) Alke. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake, and graduated from Wood Lake High School in 1949.  She attended one year of college at St. Olaf in Northfield, Minnesota and went to work at the State Bank of Wood Lake. On November 1, 1952, Doreen was united in marriage to Robert Hanson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake.   To this union five children were born; Cheryl, Marcene, Randall, Brian and Joel.  In 1979, they moved to Louisiana.  They moved back to Minnesota in 1985 onto the Alke Homestead where she remained until her death.  She worked for the Yellow Medicine County Treasurers Office for 14 years.  They spent 19 winters in Texas where they enjoyed playing golf and making many lifelong friends. Doreen went home to be with the Lord on December 24, 2017 at the St. Cloud Medical Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota at the age of 85. She is survived by her husband of 65 years Robert; her children Cheryl (Don) Lalim of Watertown, SD, Marcie Kulseth of LeSeuer, Brian (Connie) Hanson of West Fargo, ND and Joel Hanson of Thibodaux, LA; 11 grandchildren Kyle (Beth) Lalim, Tim (Marcie) Lalim, Adam (Lisa) Lalim all of Watertown, SD, Michaela (Jim) Vinton of Glenville, Britta (Ryan) Svihel of Champlin, Misty (Fritz) Rethmemeyer of Macon, GA, Sabrina (Joshua Noel) Hanson of Fargo, ND, Megan Hanson of West Fargo, ND, Anthony Hanson of Fargo, ND and Helena Hanson and Colette Hanson of Thibodaux, LA; 17 great grandchildren; sister Lana Neuman of San Diego, CA; sisters-in-law Orla Hanson of Granite Falls, Charlotte (Paul) Peterson of St. Louis Park, Lois (Alton) Anderson of Inver Grove Heights and Alice (Dick) Friedman of Plymouth. She was preceded in death by her son Randall in infancy, her parents and brother-in-law Clayton Hanson. Blessed be her memory.
