Eldon Richard Jordan

The funeral service for Eldon Jordan, 86, of Marshall, formerly of Vesta, will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo and will continue from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. Interment will follow the service at the Vesta Cemetery. Eldon Richard Jordan was born on October 5, 1937, in Granite Rock Township to William and Frieda (Raduenz) Jordan. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. Eldon grew up on the family farm and graduated from Redwood Falls High School. He enlisted and served in the U.S. National Guard. On September 10, 1965, he was united in marriage to Carole Schmidt. The couple farmed and raised their family in Vesta. The couple retired from farming and moved to Marshall. Eldon enjoyed hunting and fishing. Eldon died on Friday, November 10, 2023, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall. He is survived by his wife, Carole, of Marshall; children Lois Jordan (Tim Ostronic) of Council Bluffs, IA, Lori Jordan (Brad Nordang) of Marshall, Steven (Valerie) Jordan of Vesta; grandchildren Matthew (Brianna) Swanepoel, Amanda Piehl, Jonathan (Ciera) Piehl, Hillary (Zach) Senkbile, Michael Sietsema, Brian Jordan (fiancé Gabrielle Fennern), Allison Jordan; great-grandchildren Gianna Swanepoel, James Senkbile, Reginald Piehl and Harriet Piehl, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Walden and Arlyn and sister Emily.
