Eugene A. Baune, 80, of Wabasso, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at the Golden Living Center in Franklin. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM on Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM on Thursday at the church with a prayer service at 7:30 PM followed by the Rosary. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be at St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Eugene Alois Baune was born on December 29, 1936 to Edward and Anna (Frericks) Baune in Wabasso, Minnesota, Redwood County. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anne’s Catholic Church and attended St. Anne’s Catholic School. On June 17, 1961, Eugene was united in marriage to Elaine Pistulka at Holy Name Catholic Church in Vesta. They made their home in Wabasso where Eugene worked 7 years for the City of Wabasso. He then went to work for Schwans Food Company in Marshall as a service person until his retirement. He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and enjoyed fishing, gardening, washing cars and spending time with his grandchildren and family. On Sunday, April 16, 2017, Eugene passed away at the Golden Living Center in Franklin at the age of 80. He is survived by his wife Elaine Baune of Wabasso; children Eugene Baune Jr. of Marshall, Lauren (Sandie) Baune of Abilene, KS and Curtis (Tracy) Baune of Tyler; brother Cyril “Butch” (Phyllis) Baune of Wabasso; sister-in-law Kathy Baune of Redwood Falls; brothers-in-law Rolland Pistulka of Shakopee, William Pistulka of Wabasso and John Pistulka of Comfrey; six grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Armella (John) Guetter, Edmond (Margaret) Baune, Arnold (Maxine) Baune, Mildred (Walter) Lensing, Gilbert Baune, Lorraine (Raymond) Rothmeier, Melvin (Mary Fran) Baune and Reynold (Ginger) Baune and sisters-in-law Audrey Pistulka and Mildred Pistulka.
