Gladys Ione Doose, 87, of Granite Falls, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the Granite Care Center in Granite Falls. Memorial services will be 1:00 PM on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Granite Falls Lutheran Church in Granite Falls with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Wood Lake City Cemetery. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Gladys Ione Doose was born on July 22, 1930 to Knute and Annie “Imo” (Homan) Haugen in Clarkfield, MN, Yellow Medicine County. She was baptized on October 1, 1930 and confirmed on August 20, 1944 at Bergen Lutheran Church. She attended Roadside Country School and graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1948. After high school, Gladys went to work for the Yellow Medicine County Courthouse in Granite Falls. On March 5, 1950, Gladys was united in marriage to Darold Fred Doose at Hazel Run Lutheran Church. They lived in Granite Falls until 1952 when they moved to the country outside of Granite Falls. She was a homemaker and a volunteer in the community. She was a Cub Scout Leader, 4-H leader, Sunday school teacher, involved with the church circle and various other functions at church. She enjoyed camping and traveling the US with her children, gardening, sewing, upholstery work, knitting, crocheting, hardanger, reading, bowling league, playing the accordion and piano, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. On Wednesday, October 25, 2017, Gladys passed away at the Granite Care Center in Granite Falls at the age of 87. She is survived by her children Jeffrey (Jill) Doose of Athens, OH, Gregory (Susan) Doose of Granite Falls, Michael (Kristi) Doose of Granite Falls, Melinda (Gregory) Schmidt of Wood Lake, and Brian (Lianne) Doose of Wood Lake; grandchildren Christopher (Misti) Doose, Scott (Jessica) Doose, Marc (Margaret) Doose, Nathan (Melissa) Doose, Chad (special friend Courtney Lange) Doose, Andrew Schmidt, Lacey (Michael) Timm, Megan (Shane) Laleman, Abbey (Timothy) Johanneck, Taylor Schmidt, Heidi Schmidt, Zachery Doose, Cody Doose, and Dustin Doose; eighteen great grandchildren; brother Glen Haugen of St. Paul; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Darold, brothers Kermit, Harold and Orrin, and great grandson Lincoln Timm. Blessed be her memory.
